If you are in the market to purchase a face serum or have recently discovered one to try, you may be anxious to test it and start experiencing some results. Unless you follow the right procedures for using the product correctly, you are likely to miss its effectiveness.

Face serums take seconds to apply, then you are free to go about your daily activities. Serums are bursting with the most beneficial and quality ingredients. Before starting the journey to new and improved skin, you need to know whether it is good to wash your face after applying CBD serum.

    Face Serums

Serums are packed with charged ingredients designed to penetrate the skin in ways that moisturize every day, and their price reflects this fact. They have benefits such as smoothing fine lines, increasing firmness, speeding cell turnover, boosting brightness and correcting discoloration though they can't work well if used incorrectly.

Steps to using a face serum:

Ensure the skin is properly cleansed before applying face serum. Use your favorite face wash to cleanse your skin if necessary. This helps your skin and removes any buildup that could hinder the absorption of your serum.

    Apply Toner, Mist, or Water

The correct layering of products is crucial. Apply products based on viscosity, so start with the thinnest product and finish with the heaviest or thickest. After cleansing, apply a small amount of liquid onto cotton or ball while paying close attention to your hairline, chin, cheeks, and nose without forgetting your neck. You can also moisturize your face with a delicate mist containing skin-nourishing ingredients like rose water, coconut water, witch hazel, or aloe Vera juice. If facial toners or mists aren't to your taste, dampen a washcloth with lukewarm water and slowly pat on your face. The step is important and, in turn, will be more accepting of your nutrient-dense face serum.

    Application of Facial Serum

If you have already cleansed and damped your skin, it is time to apply the serum to make you look good. Ensure you have read the procedure well on your face serum. Some serums may have specific guidelines for you. The amount needed may be different considering the individual’s skin and the particular product. According to Jacobs et al. (2008), face serums have a higher potential with high concentrations of ingredients. Avoid irritation and poor absorption of the product by refusing the urge to slather on your serum by applying the serum with your fingertips. Slowly apply the serum to the face and neck and then lightly tap, pat, and smooth the serum out. Avoid rubbing the face too hard; allow the product to absorb slowly on its own after you have smoothed it out. The second method is to use your palms. Apply two pumps or 3-4 drops of serum into your palm. Rub the palms gently together to make them warm and activate the serum. Slowly press the palms onto your face and pat the serum on its upward and outward motions until it is fully applied to your face and neck.

    Wait for 5 Minutes

Having applied serum with your fingertips or palms, wait five minutes for the entire product to get into the skin. Well-made face serums absorb amazingly fast and wholly disappear into your face and neck. The serum is not doing its work well if it leaves you with a sticky or oily residue.

Face serums are not meant to replace your daily moisturizer or night cream, even though they contain moisturizing ingredients. Serums supplement the moisturizer. The two products mutually benefit the other. After waiting for 5 minutes for the serum to absorb, apply a moisturizer to your face and neck. The final step and finishing texture help the closure in your serum and lock in nutrients. It also gives an extra layer of moisture to protect and hydrate your skin for a supple and radiant look.

Choose both a Daytime Serum and a Nighttime Serum for the Best Results

Daytime serums are less concentrated, so you have no reason to get worried. Serums are very concentrated, and the ingredients take effect while sleeping. The two products are used to keep your skin as healthy and flawless as possible. Start slowly with your serums to your skin time to change to new products. Apply your night serum once a day, increase systematically toward nightly application within a few weeks, and then add your daily serum. You can use an antioxidant in the morning to keep your skin protected. Apply nighttime serum containing retinol to keep a youthful outlook. Serums work great for specific acne, dry skin, brightness, and wrinkles. Apply a small amount of serum to the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin for best results by using daytime and nighttime serum.

    Types of Face Serums

    Anti-aging serums

Kim et al. (2015) encouraged collagen production and renewal of the skin. It includes retinol and bakuchiol, or both. The most preferred anti-aging serums include:

    • Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer
    • CeraVe Skin –Renewing Retinol Serum

    Skin-brightening Serums

They are full of antioxidants and pigment-fighting ingredients to improve skin appearance. Markiewicz & Idowu (2020) claimed that they are made of Vitamin C, glycolic acid, ferulic acid, mushroom extract, lactic acid, etc. Recommended skin-brightening serums include:

    • CeraVe Vitamin C Skin Renewing Serum
    • Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum

    Hydrating Serums

Contain hyaluronic acid, a molecule that physically binds water in the skin to make it look fresh, soothed, and younger. Topical serums with hyaluronic acid can bind water in the upper layers to make our skin appear fresher and dewier.

    Free-radical Fighting Serums

Kerche-Silva et al. (2017) commented that they fight radicals that cause skin damage. Chose a serum that contains vitamins C, A, and E.

    Acne and Sensitive Skin Serums

Contain plant-based derivatives. They minimize skin irritation and soothe sensitive skin.

    Skin Texture Serums

They are meant to boost skin’s texture and overall appearance of your skin, Shainhouse recommends using a serum with glycolic acid serum.

Face CBD serums can be one of the newest secret preparations for attaining a good face look. You only need to ensure that you follow the right procedure before and after using it to reap all the face goodness. Face serums are not hard to use or time-consuming. Once you follow the right procedure, you will get better. You can wash your face after applying the face CBD serum since it takes a few minutes to absorb on the skin.
