DIY CBD Oil-How to Make CBD Oil at Home

CBD oil is becoming an expensive supplement. Learning how to make it at home helps you save a lot.

Do It Yourself (DIY) activities are common. Youtube and Pinterest are popular platforms that can help you know how to make anything yourself. It could be a skill, language, or a product like CBD oil. Instead of sinking in your recliner on weekends watching Netflix, you can make your own CBD oil and save some cash. CBD entrepreneurs have realized most individuals are desperate to gain CBD health benefits. They double prices, knowing people will buy from them. DIY CBD oil is an end-game button for them. Preparing homemade CBD oil is beneficial.

What You Need for a Homemade CBD Oil

Varlet et al. (2016) suggested that preparing CBD oil at home is not as hard as it may appear. Sacrifice a few hours of your time and look for the following things to make a high-quality CBD oil;

  • A paper towel
  • A pot or saucepan
  • An oven
  • Aluminum foil
  • A baking sheet
  • A grinder
  • 14g of cannabis flower/ hemp flower
  • A cup of coconut oil or MCT oil

The process

  • Set the oven to 225 degrees. You could use an oven temperature to confirm precision. Don't underheat or overheat the oven to avoid undercooking or evaporating the herb.
  • Use the grinder to crush the hemp flower consistently. Don't over-grind the herb to avoid losing its content.
  • Spread the aluminum foil evenly on the baking sheet, and ensure the layer is properly placed for the hemp flower to cook properly. Use another foil to cover it.
  • Ruppel et al. (2013) stated that you could bake the hemp for 30 minutes to decarboxylate it. The temperature should not be more than 20 degrees. Within the 30-minute baking, allow the herb to cool for around 45 minutes. You should notice that the hemp has become brown with a roast-like smell.
  • Mix coconut oil with brown hemp. Release a few drops of coconut oil into a pot or saucepan on low heat, then add the extract. Using a thermometer, confirm you have used a 150 degrees temperature. Don't use over 200 degrees because too much heat can burn the extract.
  • Finalize the infusion by heating the mixture for 1 hour. You can cook it for 4 hours if you want more CBD infused into the oil.
  • Use a paper towel to strain the mixture on a clean container or up and drain the oil. Get rid of the residue and store your CBD oil safely. You can keep the finished oil in a refrigerator or a cool dark location.

Is a Homemade CBD Oil Better Than a Store-Bought CBD Oil?

Making CBD oil may appear a lot of work, but it's worth it. Making CBD oil won't be a new experience if you love preparing food or nutritious drinks. However, if DIY cooking is your least favorite moment, you may need to make the session more interesting. You can listen to music while making it or ask your partner or kids to join you and have fun together. Preparing and consuming homemade CBD oil is a better option than buying from local or online stores because;

  • You will save money because vendors cannot overcharge you
  • You will be in full control of what enters your system. Some CBD oil vendors are not genuine with their ingredient list.
  • Paying a delivery fee will not happen if you prepare your CBD oil
  • You can mix any flavors you want, according to your preferences
  • There will be no traces of solvents

What You Should Remember When Preparing a Homemade CBD Oil

Making CBD oil at home does not guarantee you will make an effective product. You should be careful with your ingredients and exercise caution to avoid making low-quality CBD oil. Ensure you follow these tips to create a product worth using and capable of giving you all CBD health benefits;

Use High-Quality CBD Strains

The oil you use should be rich in all beneficial compounds. A poor-quality CBD extract will not give you pleasant or consistent results.

Choose A High-Quality and Healthy Fat

According to Zgair et al. (2016), some CBD oil vendors use unhealthy fats that may affect your health negatively. Preparing a homemade gives you the power to use healthy and high-quality fats like coconut oil, avocado oil, butter, ghee, or extra virgin oil.

Precision Is Important

Accuracy is crucial when preparing homemade CBD oil. You can use a precision cooker to gain maximum and consistent CBD from the plant matter.

Be Careful Of How You Store Your CBD Oil

Poor storage can make an A-grade quality CBD oil worthless. Evans (2021) advised that for infusion containing coconut or olive oil, a dark cupboard is needed for proper storage. CBD oil made at home can last 6 -12 months if stored properly. CBD oil does not go bad easily. its potency can reduce over time. It's better to prepare a reasonable amount of CBD oil instead of an extreme amount that will take you forever to finish.

How Can You Use Homemade CBD Oil?

  • Apply it directly to your skin
  • Release a few drops of the oil and a dab of honey to a warm beverage
  • Add it to your favorite dishes or medicated recipes
  • Add it to your body care products like lotions or body wash to manage skin conditions like eczema
  • Take a small dose sublingually for a fast onset
  • Add it to your favorite baked foods

Conclusion

Investing in high-quality CBD oil is expensive. There are many ways of benefitting from CBD oil. You can introduce CBD to your body through oil, topicals, gummies, vapes, and capsules. However, these options are not affordable for those wishing to use them regularly, and preparing your CBD oil at home saves more than costs. You can control the ingredients you will use and the flavor you will add. CBD oil is used in foods, and you can add them to add flavor and bring the desired effect. Ensure you follow instructions for preparing CBD oil to obtain the best results. Use the required heat to avoid burning.
