Giving you better sleep doesn't necessarily mean that it will make you sleepy during the day.

With several strange terms surrounding CBD, you can easily get confused. You must have come across various terms such as full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. The mentioned terms are CBD types and are different. There are have three types of CBD, including:

CBD isolate

Datta et al. (2018) explained that CBD isolate is the purest CBD form. This CBD type is considered 99% pure due to its extraction process (isolate). This purity is the major benefit of isolated CBD since its easier to maintain its potency even when incorporated into other substances. It can be a perfect alternative if you are looking to avoid THC because isolates contain no other cannabinoids. Additionally, it is the best alternative for those intending to for a drug test. However, THC may still appear during the drug test since all CBDs may contain some THC traces. Due to its odorless trait, it is the best alternative for those looking for odorless products.

CBD Full Spectrum

It is a CBD type that contains all the compounds in cannabis plants. It has a more potent effect compared to CBD isolate. Additionally, it contains THC but in small quantity, often 0.3%. However, the THC level may rise as CBD becomes concentrated during manufacturing.

Broad-Spectrum

Broad-spectrum CBD shares feature with both full-spectrum and CBD isolate. In other words, broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol with some amounts of cannabis compounds but contains no THC. Just like full-spectrum CBD, this CBD type may have intense effects as they have extra components that combine and work together. Some extra compounds include cannabinol and terpenes, such as limonene, myrcene, and pinene.

How Does It Work In The Body?

CBD does not interact directly with receptors CB1 and CB2, unlike other cannabinoids. Rather, CBD interacts with endocannabinoids in the body. Endo means endogenous, referring to these receptors as "endogenous receptors." Many folks are more concerned about how this cannabinoid (CBD) works in the body. Individuals only know its benefits to the body and its roles in improving overall body health. According to Chye et al. (2019),the cannabinoid (CBD) interacts with the receptor (endocannabinoid), releasing its effects to relieve chronic pain, inflammation, and potential heart complications.  

Does It Make You Sleepy?

Kaul et al. (2021) explained that the impact of CBD on your sleeping pattern depends on your body's response. Some people admit that CBD makes them feel asleep, while others admit it makes them awake. To incorporate CBD into your daily routine, you'll have to determine how the cannabinoid makes you feel. You can increase or reduce the dosage based on your body's response to getting the amount that suits you. CBD is known to provide a calming and relaxing state, giving you a perfect sleep. However, it is still not clear if CBD can make you sleepy. All it does is relieve insomnia and exhaustion. Giving a better sleep a night doesn't necessarily mean that it can make you sleepy during the day.

Individuals have three primary types of CBD – CBD isolate, broad-spectrum, and full-spectrum. Each of these cannabinoids has different compounds.

According to Johnson et al. (2010), CBD can help fight pain related to cancer and reduce the severe consequences of chemotherapy treatments. The FDA has approved three cannabis-based products to relieve these symptoms while improving the appetite of people with AIDS. These drugs have some traces of THC and not CBD alone. Some studies also prove that CBD can help prevent cancerous cell development. Additionally, various studies prove that CBD can treat various types of cancers.

Conclusion

CBD is one of the active cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. The compound is non-toxic and has great health benefits, making it a safer ingredient in candies, lotion, and food flavors. It interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the body but does not cause any severe effects. CBD is found to help in achieving better sleep but does not make you sleepy.
