    What is CBD?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD has become a buzzword, especially in the beauty industry, as users claim that it has a lot of therapeutic benefits both for the skin and the body. Although research into CBD is fairly limited, evidence suggests that it has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are useful in treating various skin conditions such as acne and eczema.

Peyravian et al. (2022) showed that CBD's anti-inflammatory properties were useful in treating acne. Also, CBD is great for intense hydration making it perfect for dehydrated skin and anyone suffering from acne. Legal (2020) noted that CBD has been praised for its stress-relieving properties. CBD applied topically never reaches the bloodstream, it interacts with nearby cannabinoid receptors to help relax the nervous system and bring users to a state of calmness. For this reason, many brands and manufacturers are integrating CBD into their skincare products, such as serums, to boost their effectiveness.

Guidelines for Utilizing A CBD Facial Serum and CBD as an Ingredient in Serums

Serums are used underneath a moisturizer and following cleansing. You can use oil-based serums rather than a moisturizer since they're nourishing. Many serums are available in little bottles, consumers don't require a lot for them to be effective on the skin. Most skin problems originate from inflammation. A CBD face serum can aid in naturally working with the body to minimize skin inflammation. Applying CBD face serum directly on clean skin absorbs natural anti-inflammatory elements. CBD products can contain either full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolates. Full-spectrum CBD oil is recommended as it contains all of the compounds found in the cannabis plant, including a range of cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and a minimum amount of THC.

Ingredients of the Hydrating Facial Serum

    Hyaluronic Acid

It's the key ingredient in this hydrating serum as it's a powerful hydrator (humectant). HA occurs naturally in the skin, keeping it plump and supple. However, the skin’s HA level reduces as people age, but the correct diet and high-performing skincare products can aid your skin to maintain hydration and plumpness. According to Shanbhag et al. (2019), HA is majorly used in anti-aging products, and you can include it in any other product that has water. HA can also be extracted from animals, so ensure you check the supplier's information.

HA comprises two main versions that we could use in this procedure, high and low molecular weight HA. The high molecular weight HA makes a gel and is highly effective in hydration. Besides HA, the other most used humectant is glycerine, but HA is ten times more effectual than glycerin. Conversely, the low molecular weight HA is more fitted for its anti-aging benefits since it penetrates further into the skin. You can combine them to make a very effective anti-aging product for the best results. However, this article only uses high molecular weight HA since the aim is hydration.
